Stand-up comedian Yannis Pappas has sued "Saturday Night Live" for stealing his material.
Pappas claims that a skit on the show featuring Marcelo Hernandez was very similar to the character he has been playing for years.
The skit features Hernandez, Ego Nwodim, musical guest Olivia Rodrigo, and guest host Adam Driver repeating the catchphrase "Dasit".
Pappas has a character named Maurica saying "Dace it!" For years and even sells merchandise with the catchphrase.
Pappas has said that he is not angry about the alleged joke theft, but he is surprised that no one in the "SNL" writer's room talked about it.
A source close to the show said the skit setup was "independently created" by Hernandez, who heard the phrase in his home growing up.
In 2004, former "SNL" player Jay Mohr admitted to lifting an Irish bartender character from another comic.
