AB 976 makes permanent the allowance for building accessory dwelling units (ADUs) without owner residency, while AB 1033 enables separate sales of ADUs.
ADUs
AB 1449 gives 100% affordable housing from California's Environmental Quality Act, AB 1307 addresses noise in university housing, and AB 1633 prevents unjust environmental delays for housing projects.
Environmental Restrictions
AB 12 limits California security deposits to one month's rent starting July 1, 2024. SB 567 strengthens eviction protections, targeting "renovictions," effective April 1, 2024. AB 1418 restricts city policies enforcing "crime-free housing" penalties based on arrests or convictions.
Tenants’ Right
SB 4 enables 100% affordable housing on religious and nonprofit land, exempt from environmental rules. SB 423 extends housing project approvals, and SB 684 eases infill apartment construction, excluding single-family areas.
