On Monday, Microsoft was informed about the appointment of Sam Altman to the new position, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella gave information about it on X.
Mr. Altman, who was already looking forward to working at OpenAI again, confirmed the development, posting, “I love OpenAI and all I’ve been doing over the past few days is supporting this team and its mission together.” “I look forward to returning to OpenAI and building on our strong partnership with Microsoft.”
Leadership battle in OpenAI
OpenAI said on Wednesday it had agreed in principle to Mr Altman’s return to the tech company and would reconstitute the board of directors that fired him.
OpenAI then said that former Salesforce co-CEO Brett Taylor and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers would join current director Adam D’Angelo.
Emmett Shearer, who was appointed interim chief executive of OpenAI, said he was “very pleased” with Mr Altman’s return after almost “72 years of very intensive work”.
We all know that Microsoft has invested heavily in OpenAI and Microsoft had also said that there are jobs in the company for all the employees in OpenAI. The leadership battle at OpenAI began on Friday after it was revealed the board had “lost confidence” in its leadership after it was announced Mr Altman was being fired.
After this, the employees were left no longer and more than 700 employees of OpenAI were forced to sign an open letter, in which they threatened to leave unless they resigned. This was possible when it was written in that letter that Microsoft, the largest investor in OpenAI, had given a big assurance that if they want to join Microsoft, then there are jobs available for every employee of OpenAI.
Sam Altman has also been pressured by OpenAI’s investors to return as CEO of OpenAI, and it became so strong that OpenAI employees started issuing threats, with many of them even submitting their resignations.
